Why Every Farmer Should Attend the Annual Undercover Farming Conference and Expo in South Africa

In today’s agriculture, innovation is key. The annual Undercover Farming Conference and Expo offers South African farmers insights and hands-on experience with advanced farming techniques like greenhouse farming, aquaponics, and shade-net agriculture. Taking place twice a year—once in Gauteng (February/March) and later in the Western Cape (October)—this event is designed for both seasoned commercial farmers and new farmers eager to explore protected farming. Here’s why this conference could be the best decision you make this year.

Why Attend?

  • Stay Competitive with Climate-Resilient Farming
South Africa’s climate is increasingly arid, presenting challenges for traditional farming. The conference provides solutions with climate-smart practices that reduce evaporation and improve water efficiency, crucial for a water-scarce region.
  • Discover Hydroponic and Aquaponic Systems
Soil-free techniques like hydroponics and aquaponics allow high-density, water-efficient crop production. Learn how to set up and maintain these systems, maximizing yield on smaller plots with lower water needs.
  • Network with Industry Leaders and Suppliers
Engage with experienced farmers, suppliers, and experts to exchange ideas, explore cost-saving technologies, and form partnerships. Direct access to suppliers means potential discounts and a firsthand look at innovative products and equipment.
  • Explore Cost-Effective Greenhouse Options
Protected farming methods like greenhouses increase yields by controlling climate conditions. The expo offers practical advice on building and managing greenhouses, making them affordable for farms of any size.
  • Learn Sustainable Practices
Sustainability is essential for modern farming. Sessions cover water-saving irrigation, organic pest control, and eco-friendly automation. These practices not only reduce costs but also enhance your farm’s eco-appeal for today’s market.
